Bob Stratton's personal story:
I will preface my story with some needed explanatory material. Please read it first if you are not familiar with the Pharmanex Scanner.

Landmark Clinical Study on the Pharmanex Bio-Photonic Scanner presented at FASEB April, 2006

A landmark study conducted in collaboration with three major US universities to test skin carotenoid levels as an indicator of the overall antioxidant network was presented at the annual meeting of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) in San Francisco, California earlier this month (April 2006). Pharmanex® scientists collaborated with three major universities on this groundbreaking research which studied over 300 healthy subjects. The study results show that a consumer-friendly tool called the BioPhotonic Scanner provides a good indicator of fruit and vegetable intake, antioxidant nutrition, and oxidative stress (free radical damage), making it an accurate way to measure overall antioxidant health in the body. This easy-to-use tool gives instant results and is non-invasive—requiring neither bodily fluids, tissue samples, nor a laboratory.

The Pharmanex® BioPhotonic Scanner provides a personalized, scientifically validated measurement of how diet and supplementation is protecting a person's cells and overall nutritional health. This portable instrument measures carotids as a biomarker for antioxidant health. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants found in abundance in many fruits and vegetables, and they protect the body at the cellular level against the effects of aging and the environment. The Pharmanex® BioPhotonic Scanner non-invasively measures the carotenoid level in the skin of your palm using a safe blue light and a technology called Raman spectroscopy. By consistently tracking carotenoid antioxidant levels in the body, consumers are equipped with the knowledge to maintain a lifestyle and nutrition habits that will help boost antioxidant levels and maintain proper nutrition and health.

The Science Behind the Study
The study presented at FASEB showed highly significant correlations between skin carotids (with the BioPhotonic Scanner) and other blood antioxidants such as vitamins C and E. In addition, a highly significant inverse correlation between skin carotids and oxidative stress (free radical damage) was observed. Together these results confirm that the Pharmanex® BioPhotonic Scanner is the best non-invasive indicator of overall antioxidant status in the body, as well as a good indicator of overall oxidative stress.

In addition, the study demonstrated that skin carotenoids as measured by the Scanner are a convenient non-invasive indicator of average fruit and vegetable consumption. Previously, blood carotenoids had been viewed as the gold standard indicator of fruit and vegetable intake. The results also confirmed prior research showing strong correlations between skin and blood carotenoids and that the BioPhotonic Scanner test is as reliable as blood measurements.

Bob's story starts here:
As you can see from the above study, skin Carotenoids give a much more stable and reliable reading of over-all antioxidant levels in the body than blood carotenoids. It takes weeks to make a significant change in skin carotenoids, but the blood carotenoids vary from meal to meal.

I was scanned on July 29, 2006 just 3 days after I started drinking the water, and got the mediocre (at best) score of 28000 as shown on this scan certificate:

This scan is permanently recorded on the Pharmanex web site as follows:

Our water has two main features or benefits. One is its alkalinity. The other is its antioxidant properties. I believe the antioxidant properties to be the most important by far. Our water's antioxidant potential can be measures with an electronic device called an ORP (Oxygen Reduction Potential) meter. There is no machine on the market that produces water with as low an ORP reading as out water (-250 to -500 ORP). Lower is better. Tap and bottled water usually product an ORP reading between +400 and +600. A positive reading means the water is actually contributing to our body's oxidative stress (free radical damage) rather that to its antioxidant solution.

I was scanned again on Monday, Sept. 18th at a big Pharmanex meeting. Pharmanex people stood and told their personal stories of improved antioxidant levels in their bodies. All of them were on at least $200 a month worth of Pharmanex nutritional products. All of them were seeing steady improvements in their scanner scores. The most successful were also exercising more and eating better. Not a one of them had scanner score improvements of over 6000 points in an 8 week period.

Unlike the Pharmanex people who shared their stories at the meeting, I made no diet changes, and I have not exercised at all in several months other than walking an occasional round of golf. As shown on the certificate below, my score went up by 15000 from 28000 to 43000 in just 7 weeks and 2 days!.

This 2nd scan is also permanently recorded on the Pharmanex web site as follows:

I doubt that you can fully appreciate what that will mean to my overall health over the long run. And my score should keep going up as I continue to drink the alkaline, antioxidant water. It makes the price of the machine seem insignificant and that's the opinion expressed by everyone who has purchased a machine in my entire group.

This, to me, is scientific proof that the water is working miracles for me. I'm 64 years old, but I've always been healthy, so I haven't noticed any dramatic changes in my life from drinking the water. My energy level has been higher since I've been on the water, even though I haven't been getting sufficient sleep, but I wondered if that wasn't just because of my excitement about the business. I felt that I needed some hard evidence. Now I have it!
